I love November. The fall colors are in full force and the holiday season is ahead of us.
I'm so excited about embracing Thanksgiving and Christmas even though they will look totally different year. There is much I'm grateful for as the year draws nearer to the end.
Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite vintage Thanksgiving collectables with you.
It's always tempting to go from fall decor to Christmas decor but I usually like to put our Thanksgiving collectables on display for a couple of weeks.
An antique postcard from my grandmother's collection is about 100 years old.
Her postcards had been tucked into checkbook boxes so they were in pristine condition.
The graphics are beautiful.
An antique German glass ornament, also from her collection, decorates our Thanksgiving tree.
Vintage turkeys are fun to look for. When I was antiquing for our new country house, I spotted a darling turkey puzzle. I walked away twice. When it was still there on my third visit, I knew it was meant to be. I used to love having vintage puzzles in my classroom. Preschool collectables are still fun even though I'm no longer teaching.
A glass turkey on a nest sits near by. This little guy was found on clearance at Cloth World before it was bought by Joann's. I've had it a long time.
A fun thrifted ceramic cornucopia sits on another shelf. I just love the colors on this. It's Napco from Japan.
My favorite turkey salt and pepper shakers hang out with my mother's silver service.
This spot always gets a drop of seasonal decor.
Deeper toned turkeys are my favorite. Two Gurley candles were an eBay find several years ago.
You can read about the company here. These were made probably before the company went into decline in the 70s. They are icons of a 50's and 60's childhood. They were found at Woolworth or Ben Franklin stores.
A turkey collection isn't complete without a fun turkey platter.
This was a thrifted find.
Antique Malls usually have vintage turkeys. They will be front and center in a booth in November but I've picked up some good pieces at other times of the year. Salt and pepper shakers are usually the easiest to find Although, platters are plentiful too.
You know I love vintage collectables. Vintage turkeys are a sweet accent during a season of thanksgiving. I hope this inspires you to look for some vintage Thanksgiving collectables.
