Winter Decorating Ideas

Do you get the winter blues?
I get a little depressed when it's time to put the Christmas decor away. I'm always ready to remove the extra clutter but things just look a little barren and plain without it.
Here are some ways I spruce up the house for winter.

Clocks and clock faces.

Mercury Glass

Winter Birds

Pine Cones

Barren Branches

Throws and Blankets

A Cozy Fire

Even though my daughter says they are a little nerdy, puzzles are a great way to spend a winter day.

How do you brighten things up after the holidays?
Have a great rest of your weekend.

  2. I don't experience winter blue where I am, the weather is beautiful here. But I do experience old condo blue.

  3. Hi Katie. Your winter home is starting to look very cozy. I like to light a lot of candles and keep low-light lamps on when the dreary creeps in. I think I will make some bright throw pillows when I have the chance. I have promised myself that I am not going to 'cry' and moan about winter this year. The years are really starting to go by WAY TOO fast now as it is!..Happy Weekend..Judy

  4. I agree, Katie. Our house seems so empty and colorless when I put away the Christmas decorations. Your home looks warm and cozy with your throws and warm accents throughout!

  5. I love all your brightening up you are doing. Your rooms look very inviting and comfy and cozy. I actually got out the paint and started to paint my walls after the Christmas came down in my dining room. So it feels good to have a whole new look going on in this room. Just working on what to bring back into my room. That helps the winter blues for me. Change is a good thing. Happy Start to the New Week.

  6. So cozy! Love your throw and pillows! It has been such a bummer this weekend taking down all the Christmas decor...this has definitely inspired me to add layers to the home for the winter months.

  7. Those touches you did would cheer me up, Katie! I love that plaid blanket - who wouldn't want to be wrapped up in that in front of the fire? I absolutely love puzzles! We gave my husband two last year - come to think of it he hasn't done them. I just might take them out tomorrow! Happy New Year, Katie!

  8. You added some very cheerful touches and I like puzzles on a cold or rainy day, too. Happy New Year! I always get a bit sad when I take down the holiday decorations but then I start thinking of hearts and flowers for Valentine's Day.

  9. I love that your home still looks so cozy after removing the Christmas decorations. Homes always look so bare after the holidays, but your's looks absolutely perfect. Your chair with the warm throw and pillows looks like the perfect place to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa.

I'd appreciate it if you would be willing to share your home with my readers today at my link party. http://www.andersonandgrant.com/2015/01/4-ways-to-transform-your-furniture-your.html.

    Have an amazing day, Katie!

  10. Hello!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! And thanks for leaving such a heart felt comment!!
I have been wrestling with the changes in Blogging for over a year now and even took a break last March where I considered not coming back to posting but just being a silent "stalker" of blogs that I liked. LOL!
But I did miss the friendship and the conversations that I had with lots of my Blogger Friends. And since I too do not blog for any type of financial gain, I figured so what and who cares if I blog the way i chose to.....
With all that I took on over the past 2 years, I crashed and burned. I need to get my "spirit" back and I have been working on that , I am proud to say...
Blog how you want to and don't worry about that stats and all the numbers because it is the people who will see your true personality come through and will follow your blog.
Thanks for letting me know about the mixer and what a great idea for the Halloween post!!! LOL!!
    Thanks again for dropping by!!

    Hugs,
    Deb
