My patriotic plastic pinwheel was broken.
Trying saying that three times fast.
Apparently, the red striped plastic didn't respond well to the varied temperature fluctuations in Texas.
As soon as I thought about throwing it away,
the Sweet Tea Challenge popped into my head.
Read about it and other Texas bloggers in this post.
I thought a pinwheel out of KariAnne's fabrics by Hoffman would be darling.
I carefully took the old pinwheel apart.
Typically, I might misplace the pieces but not this time.
I experimented with the different fabrics included in the charm packs from KariAnne.
The blues in the Sweet Tea charm pack would have been perfect for 4th of July but I opted not to use them this year.
I wanted something else that would coordinate with my decor and last longer than the summer season.
There were six different gray fabrics in the Simply Eclectic charm pack which is exactly what this little project needed.
Iron on fusible interfacing helped to give the fabric a little stiffness so the parts of the wheel would stand up.
I got the interfacing at Walmart.
I got the interfacing at Walmart.
I snipped tiny holes in the shapes to re-thread onto the dowels.
The knob and dowel needed to be painted white to match the fabric.
I threaded the wheels back onto the dowel just like they were originally.
How cute is this?
KariAnne's fabric by Hoffman is just too cute and would be adorable for so many crafting or sewing projects.
The gray is almost a perfect match for the walls in my dining room.
I love getting together with other bloggers.
The blogging community is warm, welcoming, fun and creative.
I also made a purse organizer out of the Sweet Tea fabrics.
It protects the interior lining in a light colored bag.
I can also pull out the purse organizer and pop it into another bag.
Come back for a full tutorial on this project.
I can't wait to see what the other Texas bloggers have come up with for this challenge.
Voting is open from July 14th to July 21st.
Please visit Thistlewood Farm blog to vote for your favorite project.
The winner will receive a darling quilt square made out of Sweet Tea fabric.

ReplyDeleteThis is an incredibly beautiful space to have a wedding reception. The space is a long hall with a few side rooms (perfect for dancing and hor d'oeuvres). The windows at the end of the Los Angeles wedding venues hall led to magnificently gorgeous panoramic views of the city.
