Turkey Collectables On Display/Season Of Thanks Blog Hop

Hello, Friends,
How are you? I hope you are well.

Welcome to "A Season of Thanks" Blog Hop. A huge thank you to Amber from Follow The Yellow Brick Home for putting this together. Amber puts together such fun hops. Her collectables are amazing.

If you are following from Decor To Adore, welcome. Laura's jewel tone celebration is gorgeous.

I love November. The fall colors are in full force and the holiday season is ahead of us.
I'm so excited about embracing Thanksgiving and Christmas even though they will look totally different year. There is much I'm grateful for as the year draws nearer to the end.
Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite vintage Thanksgiving collectables with you.

It's always tempting to go from fall decor to Christmas decor but I usually like to put our Thanksgiving collectables on display for a couple of weeks.
An antique postcard from my grandmother's collection is about 100 years old.
Her postcards had been tucked into checkbook boxes so they were in pristine condition.
The graphics are beautiful.
An antique German glass ornament, also from her collection, decorates our Thanksgiving tree.

Vintage turkeys are fun to look for. When I was antiquing for our new country house, I spotted a darling turkey puzzle. I walked away twice. When it was still there on my third visit, I knew it was meant to be. I used to love having vintage puzzles in my classroom. Preschool collectables are still fun even though I'm no longer teaching.

A glass turkey on a nest sits near by. This little guy was found on clearance at Cloth World before it was bought by Joann's. I've had it a long time.

A fun thrifted ceramic cornucopia sits on another shelf. I just love the colors on this. It's Napco from Japan.

My favorite turkey salt and pepper shakers hang out with my mother's silver service.
This spot always gets a drop of seasonal decor.

Deeper toned turkeys are my favorite. Two Gurley candles were an eBay find several years ago.
You can read about the company here. These were made probably before the company went into decline in the 70s. They are icons of a 50's and 60's childhood. They were found at Woolworth or Ben Franklin stores.

A turkey collection isn't complete without a fun turkey platter.
This was a thrifted find.

Antique Malls usually have vintage turkeys. They will be front and center in a booth in November but I've picked up some good pieces at other times of the year. Salt and pepper shakers are usually the easiest to find Although, platters are plentiful too.

You know I love vintage collectables. Vintage turkeys are a sweet accent during a season of thanksgiving. I hope this inspires you to look for some vintage Thanksgiving collectables.
I hope that you find blessing during this special season.
Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. Katie, your vintage collections for Thanksgiving are outstanding! I love the Napco cornucopia and the turkey puzzle. I have come to be known as the turkey platter hoarder when shopping with my Panoply sisters for our November booth displays. I grab them every chance I see them. Lol, I had to chuckle at your comment on the Wollman needlepoints - mine are a few years old, but yes, they are so popular I felt like I was on an ebay auction trying to get them. She sells out within 10-15 minutes every week! Glad you snagged yours too.

  16. I know I have said it before but we are definitely vintage soul sisters! I am crazy for vintage turkeys and the thrill of the hunt is part of it since they aren't as easy to come by as Christmas decor. I love everything you shared but the cornucopia with those fab vintage colors is my favorite! I love having blogging friends who appreciate the beauty of late fall and Thanksgiving before rushing right into Christmas.

Thank you so much for joining the hop! Have a happy, healthy and blessed Thanksgiving!

  17. Katie, it's a rat to see your vintage Thanksgiving collectables. I'm just now bringing some out. Like you, I like to pick pieces up through the year if they present themselves. I let my turkey platter go a few years ago in one of my purges. Kept my one turkey plate and a turkey cup and saucer in a different pattern. One day, I hope to find more turkey plates to set a table.
How special to have your grandmother's collection of postcards. I've a few I've picked up as well as a few German candy containers in the turkey form. All fun!

  18. That old post card is just lovely. Have looked for some turkey plates but have not been successful in finding what I want. But, in all honesty, we do not host Thanksgiving meal at my house so....I might just keep enjoying my fall table. Can I tell you a little secret? I am honestly ready to decorate for Christmas. LOL! But, I am so ever Thankful to our Lord as He is a good, good Father. And...not just at Thanksgiving for sure. Hope your week is lovely dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
