Red, White and Blue In the Garden Room

Hi, Friends,
How are you? I hope you are feeling fabulous.

You seem to love the garden room. We love the garden room. Bill sits in his favorite chair every single day.
I don't switch things up very often but recently it needed a refresh. It's the best room to decorate. The light is amazing.

I found a darling red, white and blue heart at the antique shop in East Texas.
It prompted a refresh in the garden room which is a great haven for our holiday decor.

Red pillows from my pillow storage dress the loveseat.

I made the quilt for my oldest son when he was two. It will get shipped to him if he wants it.
The yoyo pillow cover came from a local craft store years and years ago.

The banner on the dish dresser was made for my classroom.

Summer postcards from my grandmother's collection stand in flower frogs.

Spring and summer seed packets decorate the planter and bulletin board.

Bill made the dish dresser for our second home. It has a lot sentimental value to me.
It's a great place for my gardening books and seasonal decor.

That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed seeing a few garden room touches for the Fourth of July.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Stay cool.

Cherries And Patriotic Decorations For The Fourth Of July

Hi, Friends,
How are you? I hope you are well. I hope that you are staying cool. It has been ridiculously hot here in Texas. Summer officially starts today and we are already over the heat.
It's going to be a long summer.

Rather than try to be outdoors at our East Texas house, I did a little tweaking inside. The neutral scheme just lends itself to a touch of red, white and blue. It is fun to sprinkle it about.

I painted the flag painting quite a few years ago. I still love it. It's nestled in some faux daisies that are among the white dishes.

When we bought the house and I looked forward to the different holidays and seasons, I knew the front porch would be darling with bunting. It's a low overhang so it was easy to hang it by myself. Bill was resting from his time spent in the heat.

I got two packages of bunting with three swags at Hobby Lobby last year.
I cut the swags apart and hung them with screws in between each of the porch posts.

The remaining swag is cute on the mantel.
The barn painting over the mantel shelf came from an art fair in Bedford Village, N,Y, during the 70s. The original frame was very groovy and it didn't go with the painting so I reframed it. I decided it might look good out in East Texas rather than hang in a little used guest room at our main house.
This is the third painting that I've tried in this spot. I haven't had the urge to make further changes which is a sure sign that I'm content with it. The olive green of the barn goes well with our furniture.
More faux daisies flounce in a white ironstone pitcher.

A darling cherry pie recipe sampler is one of my favorite summer accessories. It became the inspiration for a cherry theme in the kitchen. The red and black looks good with the brick backsplash.

The little cherry pitcher was actually a Christmas ornament that I found deeply clearance at Cloth World which eventually became Joanns.

Faux red geraniums echo the pop of red from the cherries.

A thrifted plate was made by Blue Ridge Pottery.

A campfire marshmallow tin is a fun summer collectable. '

Bill found the Liberty Maraschino Cherry jar on eBay. It's so cute.

Leftover sparklers are ready for the Fourth.

A geranium pillow rests on the sofa in the living room. Cottage themed paintings are a common decorating element in this house. We've collected these from all over.

The air conditioner out in East Texas works really well but a fan stands ready to offer additional relief from the heat.

The dry sink is a fun piece to arrange for each season and holiday.

A photograph of my grandmother's childhood farmhouse stands as inspiration.

That's about it for now.
I hope you enjoyed having a look at some of our summer holiday decorations.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Kitchen Is Just Peachy

Hello, Friends,
How are you? I hope you are doing well.

When my brother moved a few years ago, he gave me some plates that had belonged to our great, grandmother.

Knowing that I love a good fruity theme, I tucked a peach plate away for another day.
Other peachy things were found during my thrifting adventures. A couple of summers have come and gone. I wasn't feeling very peachy but the peachy keen items were neatly packed away.
I knew the day would come and it did.

Peach tones coordinate perfectly with the new Cottage Core valances so this was the summer for peaches.
I thought I'd share how I sprinkled a few elements with a peach motif around our 2022 kitchen.

Some flocked fruit from the craft store snuggles with a vintage beaded peach.

This beaded piece is so pretty and it is one of my favorites in my collection of vintage beaded produce.

The creamer has been in my collection for years. It harkens back to our yellow kitchen circa 1998.
The kalanchoe will eventually end up outside until frost. Kalanchoes are a great buy. They bloom for weeks and then can be tucked into a summer landscape.

I still love our kitchen. The transformation began almost ten years ago.

I can't resist a good printable to round out a theme. The pie jar label came from the Knick Of Time blog.

Some vintage canning jars give a subtle nod to the theme and echo the color of the walls.
Another peachy plate was a thrifty find and it coordinates with my great grandmother's plate perfectly.

White dishes are a must in the niches.

Here are a few photos of the stairway wall.

There are a few pops of yellow to coordinate with the valances.

I'm loving yellow this year.

That is all for now. I hope this inspires you to look at a fun summery theme for your kitchen.
This was a new one for me and I think it is just peachy.
