The Fall Tree/Yay Or Nay?

The YouTubers I watch are all about the fall tree. What do you think? Do you decorate a fall tree?
Maybe it's the new floors, the fact that we were thinking about moving or my recent loss but I was in the mood for a fall tree.
It's been ages since we had one up and I was on the fence about it.
Our fall tree decor was somewhat lacking and I lacked inspiration but we did have a small tote filled with woodland animals from our woodland Christmas tree.
It had been so hot this fall. When it is miserably hot, a trip to the Christmas store instantly makes everything seem cooler. They must have the thermostat really low.
They had an excellent selection of fall sprays that were deeply discounted. I was able to find beautiful, unique full sprays for $2.49 or $2.99 each.

I went from on the fence to "all in."

Our slim pine tree from Hobby Lobby is perfect for a fall tree.
I set it up, fluffed it and strung it with two types of lights. Fluffing is key!
The lights with a bigger bulb are fun. They look vintage.
This tree got a coat of white spray paint and some spray can flocking but it won't make it look less fall.

This is a refresher and a quick reminder for next month. Ribbon placement makes or breaks a tree in my opinion.
I always start at the top right hand corner.

Pinch the end of a branch around the ribbon to secure it while you manipulate the ribbon.

Twist the ribbon a little to form a perfect ringlets. I always wanted ringlets when I was little.
My mom would put my hair in pin curls over night. My hair gets bigger and bigger during the day so I never thought my ringlets were perfect.

Drape the ringleted ribbon to the left and pinch on a branch.

Wind it around the back and up a little to form another tier of ribbon.
She the picture above. See how the ribbon gets pinched in but billows out at times.
It looks a little weird but will look great once picks and ornaments are in the tree.

We had two leaf garlands from Dollar Tree. I spaced them out and then wound them in the same direction as the ribbon.
I also added some orange berry garlands. These only slightly cascade left.
These look a little like grapevine.

Next the floral sprays were added. There are two or three of each type.

I bent the end of the stem to create a hook to loop around the trunk or a tree branch.

Next it was time for ornaments.

Acorns, pinecones, squirrels, birds, nests and a butterfly or two.

I raided the Christmas box.

I love the russet, gold and brown tones. The buffalo check ribbon and tree skirt are darling.

Fall Garden Room 2019

Did I tell you that we have a new Pottery Barn outlet?
If you have read Savvy Southern Style, you may have been envious that Kim lived very close to a PB outlet. She always has stunning bedrooms and it seems like a lot of her seasonal pillows and bedding came from there.

I got a Pottery Barn gift card for my birthday in May.
This summer I popped over to the store in hopes of finding a seasonal pillow of my own.

Although, it seemed ridiculously expensive, I blew the whole gift card on this amazing pumpkin pillow.
I absolutely love it.
The little dresser we are using as an end table came from my step mother's house.
It belonged to my great grandparents.
It was labeled on the back by my mother or grandmother.
My birth mom was sick for about 7 years so she and my grandmother labeled a lot of items so we would know where they came from.

It is a lot lighter than my other furniture but it is a cutie. Now that I look at the picture, I think my parents changed the pulls to make it look more colonial. I'm sure the original pulls were more Victorian because they would have married in the late 1800s.
I may need to hunt for a more Victorian looking pull.

Our red truck got a darling real green and white pumpkin and bittersweet.
I have some fairy lights going all over it too.
This apple ale candle smells divine!

The blue and white transferware pitcher also came from my step mom's house.
My brother was going to take it but I said "no - not happening".
If he is reading this, I will remind him that he got the lusterware cat that sat on my dad's desk.
That was the item we all remembered and we all wanted it.
I'm loving this rusty moment with the mums and our rust wool throw.

I've lost a lot of display space out here since we moved the holiday cupboard out to the entryway so my tiered tray got some fall decor.

The wooden squirrel was from Walmart as a little three piece wall hanging. I took it apart. There were two little wooden acorns that I used some where else.

The pumpkins were from Dollar Tree.
I painted the checked one.

Bill has a cozy corner for reading. I did not clean up his books for you. He has quite a selection going right now because he is an avid reader.
The chair is IKEA.
The throws came from Tuesday Morning.

The secretary desk got a bit of fall decor and some fairy lights.

I dropped the scarecrow the other day so now he has a broken butt.

The farm stand from a RAZ Import warehouse sale got some fall love.

I can already tell that this is going to be a favorite planter to decorate for the seasons.
There you go.

Fall Front Porch

Hi Friends.
It finally cooled off a little. It was time to decorate the front porch for fall.
We have the only decorated porch in the neighborhood.
I just think it was too hot. It still felt like summer until a week or two ago.

We really don't have a much of a front porch. I decided to borrow some space from the adjacent flower bed.

A bench and the plant stand traded places.
The English ivy was growing over the bed into the walk. The monkey grass and shrubs were spilling over the walk on the opposite side. It looked like we were anti-company.

Everything got trimmed. It looks much more open and welcoming.

The rest of the monkey grass or Liriope is out. There was just too much of it and I was over the look of it. It was fine when the shrubs were smaller. My landscape guy will probably be thrilled. I think a landscape can looked dated just like interiors.

Mr. Scarecrow is feeling pretty satisfied with himself since he single handedly ended the drought.
Yup. We were in what is called a flash drought as it hadn't rained in weeks. It started raining again as soon as I set the scarecrow outside.
You can thank him now!

The chicken wire ribbon in the wreath is adorable.

I found the corn stalks at Dollar Tree. They are probably the best Dollar Tree item in the history of Dollar Tree items.

Agree? They are so stinking cute!

The front porch is cute but the back porch is adorable.

The candle lantern was on the table as I had just rescued it from Bill's desire to put it in the garage sale. The bird house got set next to it as its last stop before being put in the green house. The plants were set down next on their journey to the yard. It looked so cute and all came together when I put the pumpkins out too.

It was all by accident but it's been my favorite accidental vignette.
The leaves are just starting to change a little bit. I think it will be Thanksgiving before they really are at a peak.
That is it for now. Have a great day.
