Uncertain Times

How are you friends?

What are your thoughts as we embark on these life altering events?
Life has changed dramatically in the week since I snapped these pictures.

Do you want an escape?

I'll admit that I've had moments of sheer panic.
I found a channel on YouTube. It features Scripture reading and soft music. The scripture that I've memorized has been running through my head. I've also done my share of watching fluff.

Psalm 91 has been a favorite for almost two years.

"Whoever dwells int he shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God , in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings. you will find refuge: his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness nor the plague that destroys at midday."

How can I pray for you? Several prayer requests have come to my mind:

Shut ins and the elderly
Special needs students that rely on routines - students in general -teachers as they scramble to get things on line
Small business owners
Large business managers - they are scrambling on how to navigate this
Grocery store suppliers, drivers, employees
Of course doctors, nurses and hospital employees
Parents who are trying to remain calm for their children
Our leaders as they navigate these waters

I've looked at a couple things in my own life.
I waste a lot of food
I focus on a lot of things that are not important - What did I worry about two weeks ago?
My grandparents both lived through the pandemic of 1918. They never talked about it.
I wonder why.

I believe that God can sweep through and blow this all away.
What can we learn in the meantime?
Spring will still come.
Babies will be born.
We can still find laughter, love, and joy.
Let's pray for each other.
Let me know how I can pray for you.
Katie

  1. I wonder if your grandparents never talked about the pandemic of 1918 because once we're past a traumatic experience we wonder why we worried so? I'm not too worried about this though I am unsettled at times. My husband has juvenile diabetes & is 58 so I think he's high risk. He has to keep going to work every day as well....so you can pray for my sweet Charlie when he comes to mind. But we've both had so much loss in our lives already that we're ok no matter what comes. Though we would rather all the uproar die down to nothing!

  2. Look at those wondrous blooms. What a balm for the anxious soul. We're doing OK so far. Let's keep hoping. I'm self-isolating as much as possible (a brief trip to the grocery tomorrow; the doc on Friday). I'm just hoping the trip to Canada brought nothing home but books. But we stayed in most of the time. You keep safe, my friend.

  4. such good and positive thoughts, Katie. I try to read Psalm 91 every few days, out loud, so I can hear myself confess this. It is a good time to reflect on our own lives and pray for others. you're such a real and sweet friend to us all. your yard and walkway are so pretty and cheerful, it must make you happy just being able to look at it each day. I tried a few times to leave a comment on your crockery post and my computer kept getting hung up, so saying now how much I love that wonderful antique family crock you have. take care and keep posting. xo

  5. Katie, your flowers are beautiful and something to take in for the here and now. There are such problems in the world now and it is a scary time for us all. I feel so badly for the changes that are occurring in so many lives and the ones you mentioned are certainly the most vulnerable. We must all do what we can to make it better for all our friends and loved ones as well as ourselves..Take care..xxoJudy

  6. Hi Katie,
Love your post today. We are living in a time of new dangers and vulnerability for a big part of our population. It think if we all stay home as much as we can and follow all the precautions given we can all navigate through this with less consequences than what we have seen in other countries. Prayers for all of those that you mentioned that are in the front line of helping people in our communities. Love that you are seeing Spring and flowers growing. We have a month or more before we will see any flowers popping up here in Illinois. Love that tulip wreath. So pretty. Stay safe.
    Hugs, Kris

  7. This is such a soothing post, Katie. I admit to being super-stressed about this. Tonight I'm visiting blog friends, which I haven't done in awhile to distance myself from the news. From each post, I'm picking up positive thoughts and energy. Hoping you and your family stay healthy!

  8. Looking at your beautiful flowers in bloom Is really easing my anxiety. I am teaching from home now as New Jersey schools are closed for two weeks although I bet it will be longer. I miss my little ones smiling faces and chit chat! Blessings to you and all your readers!

  10. Katie,
As of today there are only 96 known cases in Pa, with 1 in our County and all have come from travel related exposure, not community induced. Most are in isolation at home so i am shaking my head saying, REALLY!!!
The restaurants were just ordered closed EXCEPT for take out and deliveries...Thank God!! Non essential stores were suggested to be closed but many stores even if they have a small amount of groceries, cleaning supplies, etc. are still open. I "social distance" normally as I do not like crowds and do not go out to eat or anything like that. Truth be told that since I stopped working, I only leave the house about once a week, if that!! Joe does enough running around for the two of us!! Joe is working at Wegman's, waiting on thousands of customers over the last few days... He feels that all this is grossly overblown as do a lot of medical professionals including Doctors that I know. I only watch our local news as the national news is too sensational for me. Having worked in health care for 42 years, I am not worried about myself and we are seeing our kids and not distancing ourselves from them because we feel we need to be there for each other...God knows what will happen in the future but I feel What will be, will be...
Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment!!
    Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie
